Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein engaged in discussions with Joshua Harris, the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, focusing on the implementation of memoranda of understanding between Baghdad and Washington.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement detailing the meeting between Foreign Minister Hussein and Chargé d’Affaires Harris. The discussions centered on reviewing the results of the Iraqi delegation’s recent visit to Washington, D.C., led by the Prime Minister. The meeting assessed the outcomes of this visit, especially the memoranda signed between the two countries, and explored ways to follow up on their implementation to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The statement also highlighted that the meeting addressed the outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Further discussions included Iraqi relations with the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, along with preparat
ions for upcoming official visits aimed at enhancing regional cooperation and developing bilateral partnerships.

Additionally, the meeting involved an exchange of views on regional developments, particularly concerning maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Both parties emphasized the importance of avoiding escalation and maintaining regional security and stability. Economic repercussions of regional developments, their potential impact on oil markets, and the financial situation in Iraq were also part of the discussions.
