Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Iraq, Joshua Harris, in Baghdad on Monday to discuss ways to implement the memoranda of understanding signed between Baghdad and Washington.

According to Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the meeting reviewed the outcomes of the Iraqi delegation’s visit, led by the Prime Minister, to Washington, D.C. The discussions focused on assessing the results of the visit and the memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries, aiming to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The meeting also addressed the outcomes of the Prime Minister’s visit, along with his delegation, to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Additionally, the two sides examined the state of Iraqi relations with the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the preparations for upcoming official visits that are expected to strengthen regional cooperation and develop bilateral
partnerships.

Furthermore, the discussions included an exchange of views on regional developments, particularly concerning maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Both sides emphasized the importance of avoiding escalation and maintaining regional security and stability.

The statement concluded with discussions on the economic repercussions of regional developments and their potential impact on oil markets and Iraq’s financial situation.
