Foreign Minister Announces New Iraqi Policy Focused on State-Controlled Weapons


Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed during a joint press conference with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Mohammed Al-Badawi, that the new Iraqi policy is based on the principle of restricting weapons to the state.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, this announcement marks a significant shift in Iraq’s approach to handling weapons within its borders. The policy aims to consolidate control over weapons, ensuring that only state entities have access to them. This move is expected to enhance national security and stability by limiting unauthorized weapon proliferation.



The joint press conference highlighted the cooperation between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council in addressing regional security challenges. Both parties expressed their commitment to working closely on implementing the new policy effectively.
