Foreign Minister Discusses Developments in Tehran-Washington Negotiations by Phone with His Iranian Counterpart


Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed the latest developments in the negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as related regional developments, in a phone call today, Sunday, with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, both sides affirmed the continuation of the negotiation process. The next round of negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman, is scheduled for next Thursday in Geneva.



The call also addressed the military buildup in the region. Both sides stressed that the correct approach to addressing current challenges lies in adopting a peaceful approach and resorting to dialogue and negotiations as a means to reduce tensions and enhance stability.



Both sides agreed to maintain communication and coordination in the coming period, contributing to the continued exchange of views on issues of common interest, particularly given the sensitive circumstances in the region.
