Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held a telephone conversation today, Sunday, with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the call addressed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields. The two sides also discussed regional security in general, focusing on the security situation and the recent escalation in Aleppo.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, both sides emphasized the importance of restraint and a cessation of violence, given its serious repercussions on the security and stability of the region. They stressed the necessity of achieving de-escalation through dialogue and peaceful efforts.

The call also addressed recent developments in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the latest developments in Yemen. The importance of following up on these issues was emphasized, given their direct impact on regional security.

At the conclusion of the call, both sides agreed to intensify communication and joint coordination, monitor security developments, and strive to reduce the scope of violence and escalation in a way that contributes to strengthening regional stability.
