New york city: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, met with Monika Schmutz, Swiss State Secretary for the Middle East and North Africa, at the United Nations headquarters in New York City, on the sidelines of the international conference on the Palestinian issue.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the discussions on bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, focusing on ways to enhance cooperation in various fields. The possibility of reopening the Swiss embassy in Baghdad was also a key topic, emphasizing its significance in boosting diplomatic ties and expanding cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting underscored the importance of the international conference hosted by the United Nations and its supportive role for the Palestinian cause. The Minister acknowledged Switzerland's contributions to peace processes in the Middle East and commended its position as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.
