Foreign Minister Discusses With His Lithuanian Counterpart Developments Of The Ukrainian-Russian War

Baghdad Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Lithuanian counterpart the latest developments in the Ukrainian-Russian war.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement: “The minister received a phone call from Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, during which they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, the effects of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, and its repercussions on the human level, on international peace and security, and its significant economic impacts on the countries of the world, including Iraq”.

The minister expressed Iraq’s concern about developments between Russia and Ukraine, the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there, and the importance of resorting to more dialogues that would defuse the crisis, stop the fighting and maintain security in the region and its peoples.

The two ministers discussed the issue of Iraqi asylum seekers in Lithuania and how to deal with this humanitarian situation and settle their situation.

For his part, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister presented his government’s viewpoint on the ongoing war and its political, economic and humanitarian repercussions.
