Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed the escalating tensions and the effects of the war with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaya Kallas. A statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that Hussein discussed, in a telephone call on Monday with Kallas, the rapidly evolving situation in the region amidst the ongoing war and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region's countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Kallas expressed the European Union's concern regarding the attacks targeting Iraqi territory, emphasizing the importance of respecting Iraq's sovereignty and the necessity of sparing it the consequences of the military escalation in the region.

As stated in the announcement, the call also addressed the European position on the current crisis, with Callas emphasizing the need to intensify international and regional efforts to achieve a ceasefire and prevent the conflict from escalating.

The two sides also discussed developments on the ground, the potential for military operations to expand geographically, and the war's repercussions for the region and Europe, particularly in terms of security and the economy.
