Foreign Minister Highlights Strong Ties with France at Press Conference


Baghdad: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein announced that Iraq’s relationship with France is extensive, emphasizing its significance during a joint press conference with French Foreign Minister Jean-No«l Barrot at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad. He highlighted France’s pivotal role in the international coalition during Iraq’s battle against the terrorist organization ISIS.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministers discussed several key topics, including defense issues and the potential purchase of weapons from France. The discussions also touched on regional stability, with a focus on supporting Syria in building a comprehensive political process.



The Foreign Minister also addressed concerns over the rise of terrorism in Syria and strategies to combat it. Additionally, the talks included discussions on the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, stressing the importance of keeping the region away from conflict.
