Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received a copy of the credentials of Lee Jeong-il, the new South Korean Ambassador to the Republic of Iraq, on Monday. During the meeting, the Minister welcomed the South Korean Ambassador, wishing him success in performing his duties. He emphasized the Iraqi government’s interest in strengthening bilateral relations between Baghdad and Seoul and advancing them toward broader horizons in fields such as investment, energy, education, and technology.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ambassador Lee Jeong-il expressed his happiness to represent his country in Iraq, acknowledging the development in relations between the two nations. He affirmed South Korea’s commitment to continuing support for development and stability efforts in Iraq and to strengthening bilateral cooperation to serve common interests.

The meeting also covered a number of issues of common interest, focusing on developing mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in international forums.
