Foreign Minister Undersecretary Discusses Growing Role of Women in State Institutions with UN Coordinator

Baghdad: Foreign Minister Undersecretary for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed, discussed the growing role of women in state institutions with the UN Resident Coordinator in Baghdad, Ghulam Ishaqzai.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting addressed the implementation of the Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development, particularly concerning human rights. The Minister Undersecretary reviewed Iraq's progress in this area at the regional level, highlighting the steps taken to strengthen the national human rights system, as well as the increasing role of women in administration and state institutions, reflecting the government's commitment to the principles of inclusion, equality, and women's empowerment.

The Minister Undersecretary also briefed the attendees on the outcomes of the recent Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS conference held in Riyadh, outlining Iraq's efforts to protect regional and international security and stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation regarding the implementation of the Cooperation Framework for Sustainable Development, which will strengthen the strategic partnership between Iraq and the United Nations system in the coming phase.
