Baghdad: The Department of Forensic Medicine, in collaboration with the Martyrs Foundation/Department for the Protection of Mass Graves and Missing Persons, has successfully handed over the remains of 70 martyrs from the Badoush massacre. These individuals were victims of ISIS terrorist gangs during their control of Nineveh Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the handover was conducted through special ceremonies and simplified procedures. The remains were returned to the families of the martyrs, with each being delivered according to their respective governorates. Specifically, the remains of the martyrs from Baghdad Governorate were delivered at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Baghdad.

Director General Zaid Ali Abbas highlighted the ongoing commitment and intensified efforts required to address this complex situation. He acknowledged the technical challenges faced, especially with the bone samples that suffered damage from harsh environmental exposure.

Yasmin Munther, Director of the Mass Graves Department, noted that these recent identifications represent the fifth batch in the Badoush victims' file. This latest delivery increases the total number of identified remains to 241 out of the 605 exhumed.
