Amman: Fuad Hussein is in Amman to discuss with his Jordanian and Egyptian counterparts the latest regional developments and the situation related to the Strait of Hormuz. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed regional developments, particularly those related to the Strait of Hormuz, at a meeting of the tripartite cooperation mechanism held in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, and took place ahead of the Arab ministerial meeting on Jerusalem.

The ministers discussed ways to strengthen the tripartite cooperation mechanism between Iraq, Jordan, and Egypt. They agreed to activate the mechanism through specialized technical committees and to hold regular meetings at various levels to follow up on the implementation of joint projects, especially in the economic, investment, industrial, and energy sectors.

The participants also discussed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including oil projects and electricity interconnection. They explored ways to expand joint cooperation in this field to contribute to economic integration and enhance energy security among the three countries.

The meeting addressed the latest regional developments, particularly those related to the Strait of Hormuz. They welcomed efforts to reopen the strait as soon as possible, which would contribute to regional stability. They also stressed the need to halt military operations, de-escalate tensions, and adopt dialogue and diplomatic means to resolve crises in the region.
