Karbala: The Endowments and Religious Affairs Committee in Karbala Governorate announced that the funeral procession for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will begin at 4:00 PM, anticipating a massive turnout from within Iraq and abroad.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mohammed al-Masoudi, head of the committee and a member of the Karbala Provincial Council, stated, “The funeral procession will commence at 4:00 PM, starting from Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis Street, proceeding along al-Jumhuriya Street, and culminating at the holy shrines.”

He added that security, logistical, and organizational preparations have been completed in coordination with the local government, security forces, the holy shrines, and the Husseini processions. Al-Masoudi assured that the security plan is fully in place to ensure the smooth flow of participants.

Al-Masoudi mentioned that tribes from various Iraqi governorates, along with Arab and international delegations and political, religious, and social figures, will participate in the funeral, predicting a large turnout due to the number of mourners.

He explained that there is coordination between Karbala Governorate and other governorates to facilitate the transportation of participants. Furthermore, the Husseini processions and holy shrines have prepared service plans to manage the high temperatures and provide essential services for the arriving pilgrims.

Al-Masoudi confirmed that the governorate will not experience any closures, and that all roads and access points remain open to visitors and mourners. He noted that Karbala has witnessed significant influx and traffic congestion since last night with the arrival of participants.
