G7 Leaders Urge Trump to End War with Iran and Secure Strait of Hormuz

Washington: The American news website Axios reported on Friday, citing three G7 officials, that the group's leaders urged US President Donald Trump to end the war with Iran quickly.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the officials explained that "the leaders stressed during their discussions the urgent need to secure navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important oil shipping lanes," warning that "any disruption there could have widespread economic repercussions for international markets."

They indicated that "a number of European leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron, urged Trump to take steps to prevent Russian President Vladimir Putin from exploiting the ongoing war with Iran to further his own interests."
