Gaza: The Gaza Strip government announced today that the region has been classified as an “environmentally and structurally disaster area” due to the Israeli war, which has resulted in approximately 70 million tons of rubble and nearly 20,000 unexploded shells and missiles, posing a constant threat to civilian lives.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the government media office stated that the destruction caused by the Israeli war has reached an unprecedented level in modern history. Official estimates, as of mid-October 2025, indicate the presence of between 65 and 70 tons of rubble and debris due to the destruction of thousands of homes and vital facilities.
The statement highlighted the challenges in removing the rubble, particularly due to Israel’s prevention of the entry of heavy equipment and the ongoing closure of the crossings.
