Gaza: The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip has reported a significant increase in the number of casualties resulting from the ongoing conflict with Israel.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry announced that the death toll has reached 53,655 since October 7, 2023, with 121,950 individuals wounded in the same period.

The Ministry’s “Daily Statistical Report on the Number of Martyrs and Wounded as a Result of the Israeli Aggression on the Gaza Strip” highlighted that in the past 24 hours alone, 82 additional deaths and 262 injuries were recorded as victims were brought to local hospitals. The updated figures have emerged in the wake of renewed hostilities following the lapse of a ceasefire agreement earlier this year.

The report further detailed that since Israel resumed its military actions on March 18, 2025, there have been 3,509 deaths and 9,909 injuries. The Health Ministry expressed concerns over many victims who remain trapped under rubble and in areas that are inaccessible to emergency services due to ongoing hostilities.

The escalation followed the conclusion of the first phase of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement brokered by Egyptian and Qatari mediators and supervised by the United States. Despite Hamas’s compliance with the terms, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refrained from initiating the second phase of the agreement, citing pressure from his political allies.

Since mid-March, Israel has intensified its airstrikes, predominantly targeting civilian areas, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation in the region.
