Riyadh: The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, expressed support for US President Donald Trump’s plan to bring an end to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. He characterized the plan as an international effort that deserves recognition and backing.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Budaiwi emphasized in a press statement that the success of any peace initiative hinges on its effective implementation and the safeguarding of civilians. He highlighted the importance of creating conditions that foster stability in the region.
The GCC acknowledged the positive aspects of the proposed measures, which have the potential to initiate a fair process that upholds the rights of the Palestinian people. Central to these rights is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem designated as its capital.
