GCC to Revise Joint Defense Plans in Response to Regional Tensions


Doha: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has announced its decision to update joint defense plans, coordinating efforts with the Unified Military Command. This decision was made during an urgent meeting held in Doha, underscoring a unified stance among member states.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Joint Defense Council emphasized that any attack on Qatar would be considered an attack on all GCC member states. The Council expressed its full support for Qatar’s measures to address Israeli aggression, with the aim of safeguarding its security, unity, and territorial integrity.



The Council has resolved to revise its joint defense strategy in collaboration with the Unified Military Command and the Operations and Training Committee of GCC states. An additional focus will be placed on enhancing the exchange of intelligence information through the Unified Military Command and expediting the activities of the Gulf Joint Task Force for the Early Warning System against Ballistic Missiles.



The meeting concluded with a plan to conduct joint maneuvers between air operations and air defense centers within three months. This will be followed by a comprehensive joint air exercise, further strengthening the defense capabilities of GCC member states.
