Baghdad: The Department of Archaeological Studies, Research, and Training at the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage has announced the introduction of a new array of electronic services designed for researchers, available through the Ur platform. This initiative is part of a broader effort to advance digital transformation, improve government services, and facilitate access to scientific and archival materials. These efforts align with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities' ongoing mission to modernize the institutional work environment.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qasim Taher Al-Sudani, who serves as the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities and the Director General of the Department of Archaeological Studies, Research, and Training, emphasized the benefits of these new services. He noted that researchers can now submit electronic requests for archaeological and heritage images, providing organized and rapid access to necessary materials while adhering to established regulations. Additionally, the services include requests for archaeological documents and maps, supporting the completion of scientific studies and research and eliminating the need for traditional paper-based procedures.
Al-Sudani further explained that the deployment of these services is a part of the department's strategic plan for 2026, aimed at developing digital services and creating a more efficient work environment. The initiative is expected to enhance support for researchers and students, facilitating easier access to archaeological and heritage resources.
