Baghdad: The German Embassy has confirmed significant progress in its collaborative efforts with the Iraqi government, aimed at fostering small projects and advancing economic development.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Roland Westebe, the Charg© d’Affaires of the German Embassy in Baghdad, elaborated on the long-standing partnership with Iraqi authorities. This collaboration focuses on supporting small projects and enhancing the involvement of youth and women in the private banking sector, with the ultimate goal of bolstering Iraq’s national economy.

Westebe further explained that the German Agency for Development Cooperation (GIZ) plays a pivotal role in implementing key projects within Iraq. These projects include bolstering the state’s infrastructure in several governorates, particularly in the post-ISIS era. Additionally, there is ongoing cooperation in combating climate change, with a strong emphasis on supporting the national economic sector.

He highlighted the fruitful cooperation achieved with the Iraqi government and executive bodies, underscoring the advanced stages reached in various initiatives. Notably, the “Access to Finance Guide” was recently launched as a practical tool to support entrepreneurs in Iraq by providing essential services. This guide is part of a broader effort by the European Union and the German Agency to promote economic development and achieve financial stability in Iraq.
