Leipzig: A plane took off from Leipzig Airport in Germany carrying 43 Iraqis deported to Iraq on Tuesday, according to information from the German News Agency (DPA).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the plane took off this afternoon, heading to the capital, Baghdad. The German Interior Ministry has not yet made any official statements on the matter.

According to DPA, police handled the flight procedures. Passengers were transported to the plane in small police buses and two larger airport buses, and police officers escorted passengers individually to the stairs leading to the plane.

Last Friday, Germany operated a deportation flight to Afghanistan from Leipzig Airport. According to authorities, 81 Afghan criminals were on board. This was the second deportation flight to Afghanistan since the Taliban took power in August 2021.

According to the Interior Ministry, Germany deported 816 Iraqis last year. Some were sent to other EU countries to complete their asylum procedures, while 615 people were tra
nsferred directly to Iraq. Last February, 47 people were deported from Hanover to Iraq.
