Gold Rises Slightly as Dollar Weakens and Inflation Data is Awaited


New york: Gold prices rose slightly on Tuesday as the dollar weakened and markets awaited US inflation data that could inform expectations regarding the Federal Reserve’s next move on monetary policy. Spot gold rose 0.3 percent to $4,418.79 an ounce, while US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.3 percent to $4,464.80.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the dollar index fell 0.3 percent, making dollar-denominated metals less expensive for buyers holding other currencies. Among other precious metals, spot silver rose 0.3 percent to $66.34 an ounce, platinum rose 0.6 percent to $1,836.97, and palladium rose 0.9 percent to $1,401.47.
