Baghdad: Prime Minister's Adviser Ala Talabani affirmed on Thursday that the Prime Minister places great importance on women's participation in national development programs. Talabani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): 'Among the Prime Minister's directives is the implementation of a quota system within the executive branch, particularly since women remain underrepresented in senior positions across ministries. In some ministries, there is only one woman among 13 directors general.'

According to Iraqi News Agency, Talabani emphasized the Prime Minister's dedication to enhancing women's representation in leadership roles within ministries. This initiative not only aims to balance gender representation but also underscores the importance of women's involvement in addressing significant issues like climate change and combatting corruption.

Talabani further explained that the Prime Minister supports women's active participation in national development programs, particularly in entrepreneurship. This involvement is expected to pave the way for a new generation of successful businesswomen in Iraq, contributing to the country's economic growth and development in the forthcoming period.

She also highlighted the Prime Minister's backing for appointing a second female minister to fill the remaining ministerial positions, noting that this decision lies with the political blocs. Talabani stressed that women possess the capability to lead any ministry effectively, reflecting the Prime Minister's confidence in their leadership potential.
