Baghdad: The Ministry of Oil has underscored the critical role that geologists play in the exploration, development, and production activities within the oil sector. Geologists are regarded as the essential scientific pillar in the discovery and assessment of hydrocarbon reservoirs. Their expertise is key to maximizing reserves and ensuring the effective management of the country’s oil wealth.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting held on Tuesday in Baghdad, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil for Extraction Affairs, Naseer Aziz, met with Saad Obeid Mohammed, the head of the Iraqi Geologists Syndicate and Secretary-General of the Arab Geologists Union. Aziz commended the national competencies and expertise of the Iraqi Geologists Syndicate, highlighting its significant contribution to the oil sector with specialized and scientific expertise.

The meeting also focused on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Oil and the Iraqi Geologists Syndicate. This collaboration aims to support national competencies and advance scientific and technical capabilities, aligning with the requirements for developing the oil industry in Iraq.
