Baghdad The Government Information Cell announced the seizure of dangerous chemicals and medical supplies in violation of import conditions at the northern port of Umm Qasr.

The Cell stated in a statement that the quality control operations implemented by the Border Ports Authority and the departments supporting it continue to prevent the passage of any violation that negatively affects the health and safety of the Iraqi citizen.

It added, “During the on-site inspection and audit, it was found that there were (5) containers containing (dangerous dual-use chemicals), in addition to the presence of (2) containers containing (various medical supplies) in violation of the terms and controls of import.”

It continued, “Immediately, a committee was formed and a fundamentalist seizure report was organized and the matter was referred to the judiciary to take legal measures against the violators.”
