Baghdad: The Parliamentary Finance Committee announced today that the government is actively working on the basics of the 2025 general budget, which is set to be presented to the House of Representatives for evaluation and voting.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Committee met with a delegation from the Adam Smith International Foundation to discuss various laws related to the enhancement of the financial and banking systems. The meeting covered the methods for drafting federal budget texts, and detailed analysis of revenues and expenditures, alongside planning for budget items and general programs.
MP Atwan Al-Atwani, head of the Committee, highlighted the review of significant draft laws including the Securities and Commodities Law, the Banking Studies Center Law, and the Islamic Sukuk Investment Law, all of which are slated for amendments. He emphasized that the goal of these amendments is to engage relevant stakeholders to boost productivity and to incorporate a wide range of opinions to ens
ure the laws are effectively implemented.
Additionally, plans were made to organize workshops in collaboration with the Law, Economy, and Investment Committees to comprehensively develop these laws, aiming for a robust legal framework to support financial and economic growth.
