According to National Iraqi News Agency, Guterres emphasized the outcomes of the recent "Future Summit" held in September, which provided a roadmap for future work in finance, climate, technology, and peace. This summit underscored the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation, promoting human rights, and pursuing sustainable development. Guterres's participation in the BRICS summit in Russia drew criticism from Western countries, particularly from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. The ministry expressed its disapproval, labeling his decision as "wrong" and harmful to the United Nations' reputation. The controversy further intensified as Guterres's name appeared on Ukraine's "Peacemaker" website, a platform established in 2014 to list individuals deemed threats to Ukrainian national security. The site has been linked to incidents of violence against Russian and Ukrainian figures advocating for peace.
