Hamas Condemns Killing of Five Journalists in Gaza

Gaza: Hamas condemned "the new massacre committed by the Israeli army against journalists in the Gaza Strip, which led to the martyrdom of five of them in a simultaneous bombardment of the Gaza Strip that targeted their homes and tents at dawn on Sunday."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hamas stated that the Israeli forces deliberately targeted the journalists as part of an ongoing campaign against media professionals in the region.

The statement from Hamas identified the journalist victims as Aziz al-Hajjar, Nour Qandil, Abdul Rahman al-Abadlah, Khaled Abu Saif, and Ahmed al-Zinati. It confirmed that the journalists, along with their families, were killed when their residences were bombed, describing the incident as a brutal act by the Israeli forces.

Hamas emphasized that the targeting of journalists, who are protected under international law, reflects a disregard for international norms and institutions. The statement criticized the global community for its perceived inaction in the face of what Hamas described as ongoing war crimes against civilians and journalists in Gaza.

The statement concluded with a call to international media and journalists to show solidarity with their colleagues in Gaza. Hamas urged them to spread awareness about the situation and to challenge what it described as attempts to obscure the reality of the ongoing conflict and its impact on Palestinian journalists.
