Gaza city: Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, accusing the Israel Defense Forces of violating the truce and launching new attacks. In a statement, Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trying to evade commitments under pressure from his coalition.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Israeli airstrikes targeted Rafah in southern Gaza, with Israel justifying the attack as a response to an exchange of fire with Palestinian fighters. Israeli Channel 14 reported that the strikes followed an explosion near an army engineering vehicle.
On Saturday, Gaza’s Government Media Office accused Israel of 47 ceasefire violations, resulting in the deaths of 38 Palestinians and injuries to 143 others. The ceasefire, in effect since October 10, is based on a plan proposed by Donald Trump, which includes stipulations such as ending hostilities, releasing Israeli captives, disarming Hamas, and allowing aid into the enclave.
The agreement ended a war that resulted in over 68,000 deaths, 170,000 injuries, and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure in the territory.
