Hamas Welcomes Outcomes of Baghdad Summit and Lauds Arab Leaders’ Positions

Baghdad: Hamas welcomed the outcomes of the 34th Arab Summit held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, appreciating the positions expressed by Arab leaders in their speeches, which called for an end to the war on the Gaza Strip and the opening of crossings to allow the entry of humanitarian aid.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hamas praised the summit's final statement, which condemned the Israeli aggression, rejected the displacement of Palestinians, and emphasized the centrality of the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people to return, freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent state with al-Quds as its capital. It also rejected the occupation's policies of Judaization, settlement expansion, and starvation.

Hamas called for translating these positions into urgent practical steps, including halting the aggression, lifting the blockade, activating the Gaza Reconstruction Fund, and caring for the wounded and orphans, in addition to implementing the decisions of the Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh in 2023.

The movement reiterated its support for any responsible call to achieve Palestinian national unity, based on a unified liberation project that expresses the will and national aspirations of the Palestinian people.
