Caretaker Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Dr. Ali Hamieh, on Wednesday affirmed during the ministry’s announcement of a plan to reconstruct and develop Beirut port, that “the reconstruction and development of Beirut port will rely fundamentally on the revenues generated by the port, which naturally resulted from the activation process we have discussed.”

“Lebanese citizens alone bear the responsibility to uplift their nation and its public facilities,’ he added.

Hamieh emphasized that “assisting others complements this path rather than the other way around,” pointing out that “despite this, we reiterate that the door to investment will remain open to all specialized local and international investment companies, in accordance with the legal frameworks in Lebanon, always under the umbrella of the state’s sovereignty over its assets, which will remain its property without being encroached upon by anyone.”
