Baghdad: The head of the Supreme Islamic Council, Hammam Hammoudi, has asserted that the Zionist threat poses a significant danger to the Middle East, urging regional countries, particularly Turkey, to unite their efforts in addressing this challenge.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Hammoudi’s comments came during a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral relations and addressing regional and international developments, especially in the context of Israeli actions against Iran and the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

Hammoudi highlighted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is attempting to solidify his political standing through military actions, cautioning that this could extend the conflict. He reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment, under its religious leadership, to actively contribute to regional stability rather than remain passive.

In terms of bilateral cooperation, Hammoudi underscored the necessity of collaboration on water issues, given their crucial impact on water and food security. He welcomed Turkish companies’ involvement in revamping Iraq’s water infrastructure and supported agreements ensuring the continued flow of Iraqi oil exports via the Turkish port of Ceyhan. Additionally, he advocated for strengthened cooperation in the “Development Road” project.

Furthermore, Hammoudi congratulated Turkey on the successful implementation of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) disarmament agreement, lauding it as a bold move that will bolster regional security and stability.
