Head of Federal Integrity Commission Affirms Commitment to Protecting Public Funds

Baghdad: The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Mohammed Ali al-Lami, affirmed that the commission is committed to protecting public funds. In a recent meeting, al-Lami welcomed the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Elbrus Kutrashev, and discussed methods to enhance cooperation between the two nations in combatting corruption and exchanging expertise between their oversight institutions.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Lami emphasized the necessity of national and international collaborative efforts, information exchange, and legal assistance in addressing corruption. He highlighted the commission's serious determination and optimism in line with citizens' aspirations to eradicate corruption and safeguard public funds, with support from the government program.

Al-Lami further stressed the commission's intent to strengthen cooperation with Russia, particularly with the Russian Public Prosecutor's Office, through exchanging visits and expertise. This collaboration aims to learn about best practices in preventing and combating corruption, following a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries.

The Russian ambassador praised Iraq's role in the region and commended the Federal Integrity Commission's efforts in fighting corruption. He expressed satisfaction with the ongoing communication between oversight bodies in Russia and Iraq and noted the importance of continuing cooperation and exchanging expertise.
