Baghdad: Head of the Homeland Alliance, MP Yasser Iskandar Witwit, has revealed new political understandings between the parliamentary blocs within the House of Representatives aimed at passing controversial laws. In a recent statement, he emphasized the efforts being made to address key legislative issues. According to National Iraqi News Agency, Witwit stated, "The committees concerned with the laws of general amnesty, personal status, and the cancellation of the decisions of the dissolved Revolutionary Command Council regarding the return of lands, are currently working on some of the observations of the political blocs, in order to pass those laws as quickly as possible." He further elaborated on the political consensus to ensure these laws are passed without postponement to the next session. Witwit highlighted that the work of the council had been previously disrupted, impacting the approval of these significant laws. However, with the recent appointment of Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani as Speaker of the Counc il, there is renewed optimism and opportunity to advance many important legislative actions in the near future.
