Baghdad: The head of the Federal Integrity Commission, Muhammad Ali Al-Lami, has reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating corruption in Iraq. In an article on the official agency’s website, Al-Lami emphasized the necessity of a unified national effort to protect the nation’s resources and ensure the rule of law.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Lami stressed that the fight against corruption is not an isolated endeavor limited to the judiciary or supervisory bodies. Instead, it is a comprehensive national effort that requires genuine popular support to be successful. He highlighted the historical significance of the people’s support in overcoming terrorist threats and expressed confidence in the same synergy defeating corruption.

Al-Lami underscored the importance of the people’s will as the foundation of anti-corruption efforts. He pointed to recent successes in targeting corruption hotspots and acknowledged the critical role of public reporting and support for integrity officers and the judiciary. This collaboration, he noted, has been essential in dismantling networks that exploit public services.

He reaffirmed the commission’s unwavering determination to cleanse the nation of corruption, undeterred by obstacles or pressure. Al-Lami also emphasized that the commission’s efforts are solely focused on rooting out corruption, without targeting any specific entity or individual. The goal, he stated, is to eliminate behavior that betrays the trust of Iraqi citizens and hinders their aspirations for a just and prosperous future.

Al-Lami concluded by calling on the national media to play a key role in isolating corrupt elements and exposing wrongdoing, while avoiding the generalization of corruption across all state institutions. He highlighted the presence of numerous dedicated individuals in public service roles who are committed to safeguarding Iraq’s future.
