Heatwave Expands in France, Alert Raised in 43 Departments


Paris: The French meteorological service announced that 43 French departments have been placed under an orange alert (high risk) due to the heatwave, effective Tuesday afternoon, as the fifth heatwave of the year extends to the west of the country.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the service stated in a press release today that 22 departments in central and southeastern France were already under the orange alert, while an additional 21 departments will be added to this level starting Tuesday afternoon, stretching from Charente to the Manche, and including the westernmost part of Brittany.



She added: “Temperatures reached 27 degrees Celsius this morning in Le Luc in the Var department, as well as in Nice and ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦½le-de-Rousse in Corsica, while Montpellier recorded 26 degrees Celsius, and Clermont-Ferrand and Orange in the Vaucluse department 25 degrees Celsius.”



The agency indicated that maximum temperatures are rising across the country, ranging between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius in departments under orange alert.



The French meteorological service predicted that 67 departments, including Paris and its immediate suburbs, would be placed under orange alert due to the heatwave on Wednesday, and suggested that the heatwave would likely reach its peak in the middle of this week.
