Beirut:Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem asserted on Sunday that Israel has not succeeded in its objectives to “break the resistance.” He emphasized that the group has prevented Israel from consolidating its occupation and establishing settlements in southern Lebanon.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qassem made these comments during a televised speech commemorating the anniversary of the assassination of Hezbollah’s former Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on September 27, 2024.

Qassem highlighted that despite the deployment of approximately 90,000 Israeli soldiers and officers, Israel failed to achieve its goals of dismantling the resistance and ending its presence. He stated that the resistance had effectively halted the aggression project and was confronting Israel, which receives substantial support from the United States.

Hezbollah fighters have maintained their positions in various areas of southern Lebanon, including Bint Jbeil, Khiam, Aita al-Shaab, Naqoura, Bayyada, and Ali al-Taher. Qassem noted that the group had held the position at Ali al-Taher for three months and that fighters had maintained positions in other areas for extended periods before adopting a “hit-and-run” strategy when necessary.

Qassem explained that Hezbollah’s confrontation strategy is based on two principles: confronting the enemy where and when possible, considering gains and losses, and preventing the enemy from establishing and consolidating its occupation. He emphasized that the resistance’s work is focused on achieving these objectives.
