Beirut: The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, expressed gratitude towards Iraq, its authorities, and its people for the assistance provided to Lebanon. In a televised speech, Qassem acknowledged the support and highlighted the broader significance of recent regional developments.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Qassem emphasized the victory of Gaza as not only a triumph for the Palestinian people but also for all supportive nations in the region and globally. He underscored the success of the operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” in defeating the Zionist entity’s agenda to undermine Hamas and the resistance. Qassem lauded the Lebanese resistance’s steadfastness and courage, which demonstrated resilience and determination on the ground.
Qassem further stated that the resistance’s victory over the occupation is a testament to the people’s perseverance and continuous struggle. He noted that the battle yielded significant outcomes, both in terms of victory and martyrdom, with resistance fighters remaining resolute and committed to their cause.
He also mentioned the decision to agree to a ceasefire, explaining that it was a response to being attacked. The Lebanese state resolved to protect its borders and expel the occupier, fully adhering to the terms of the agreement, despite violations by the Zionist entity. Qassem asserted that such breaches underline Lebanon’s ongoing necessity for resistance.
In his concluding remarks, Qassem demanded the withdrawal of the Zionist entity from Lebanese territory, rejecting any rationale for extending the existing sixty-day period.
