BEIRUT: Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against Israeli military forces near the Shomera and Khallet Warda barracks, escalating tensions in the region.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Lebanese militant group stated that the operation was carried out in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and as a defense of Lebanon. The first attack occurred at approximately 3:15 PM when Hezbollah fighters launched a rocket salvo targeting Israeli soldiers stationed near Shomera and Khallet Warda. Minutes later, at 3:20 PM, another attack targeted Israeli forces on the Canaan Heights in the town of Balida, using artillery shells.
Hezbollah’s statement emphasized the attacks were in “support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and their valiant and honorable resistance,” highlighting the group’s ongoing commitment to counter Israeli military actions.
The incident marks a significant escalation in the conflict, potentially influencing further regional
instability. Responses from Israeli officials have not been immediately available, and the extent of casualties or damage has yet to be confirmed.
