Najaf: The High Committee for Million-Person Pilgrimages is closely monitoring the public funeral procession for Sayyed Ali Khamenei in the holy city of Najaf, as announced by the head of the Security Media Cell, Lieutenant General Saad Maan.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the committee was overseeing the procession from overpasses and along Thawrat al-Ishreen Street in Najaf province. Maan conveyed this information in a video statement, emphasizing the importance of the committee’s role in supervising the event. The committee’s chairman, accompanied by the deputy commander of the Joint Operations Command, was actively engaged in overseeing the public funeral procession.
The procession had covered approximately 1.5 km from its starting point at the time of Maan’s remarks. Security and intelligence agencies, along with the Najaf police command and the High Committee, were closely monitoring the event to ensure that it proceeded according to plan. Maan highlighted the importance of coordination among these entities to maintain order during the procession.
Lieutenant General Maan also urged mourners to cooperate with security forces and adhere to official instructions. This cooperation was deemed essential to facilitate the smooth movement of the procession and ensure the safety of all participants.
