House of Representatives Completes Initial Review of Iraqi Maritime Authority Law Amendment


Baghdad: The House of Representatives successfully concluded the first reading of the draft amendment to the Iraqi Maritime Authority Law. During today’s session, the Iraqi Parliament focused on the proposed changes to the Iraqi Higher Maritime Authority Law No. 18 of 2019.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the proposed amendments aim to update and improve the existing maritime regulations to better align with international standards. The amendments are expected to enhance the operational capabilities and governance of the maritime authority in Iraq. This first reading marks an important step in the legislative process, as it opens the floor for further discussions and potential revisions before the law can be enacted.



The Iraqi Parliament has been actively working on legislative reforms to ensure that the country’s maritime policies are robust and capable of supporting Iraq’s economic interests. The lawmakers will continue to debate the proposed changes in subsequent sessions, building on the initial discussions from today.
