House of Representatives Opens Session, Sets Date for Presidential Election


Baghdad: The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Haibat Al-Halbousi, inaugurated the proceedings of session No. (6) today, Sunday, January 25. Among the actions taken by the Council today, Speaker of Parliament Haibat al-Halbousi announced that next Tuesday has been set as the date for the session to elect the President of the Republic.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the winning candidates, who took the constitutional oath today, Sunday, to serve as members of the House of Representatives, are the current ministers: Razzaq Muhaibis, Ziyad Ali, Abbas Jabr, Muhammad Tamim, Naeem Al-Aboudi, Hayam Al-Yasiri, and Ibrahim Al-Namas.



The House of Representatives also voted, in its session today, Sunday, to form a committee of its members to follow up on the procedures for appointing graduates of medical professions. The House of Representatives also voted, in its session today, Sunday, to form a parliamentary conduct committee.
