Baghdad: The House of Representatives denied statements reported by news agencies attributed to the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab Abdullah, concerning water releases from Turkey.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives clarified in a statement that the reports claiming the minister said there are no water releases from Turkey are false. The statement emphasized that neither Minister Abdullah nor his media office issued such a claim.

The media office further explained that Minister Aoun Diab Abdullah actually stated that the Turkish water releases cover 50 percent of Iraq’s actual water needs. The statement urged the media to practice caution and accuracy in reporting news and advised relying on recognized official channels as sources, cautioning against using social media as a source of potentially misleading information.
