Jerusalem: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has demanded to be informed of the fate and whereabouts of all detainees from Gaza and to be granted access to them.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ICRC emphasized that detainees must be treated humanely, provided with suitable detention conditions, and allowed to communicate with their families in accordance with international humanitarian law. The organization highlighted its ongoing commitment to ensuring the rights and well-being of detainees.

The ICRC noted that it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,700 released detainees since 2023, but has been unable to access detainees in Israeli detention centers since October 2023. This lack of access has raised concerns about the conditions and treatment of those still held.

The statement explained that “many Palestinian families are anxiously awaiting any news about their detained relatives, concerned for their health and safety,” and affirmed that the ICRC is continuing its dialogue with Israeli authorities to resume visits to all Palestinian detainees and facilitate family meetings. The organization remains committed to advocating for the rights of detainees and ensuring that international humanitarian standards are upheld.
