Baghdad: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) announced the number of registered political parties that will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ahmed Ayad Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Parties Department at the Commission, stated that “the number of registered parties participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections has reached 326, and there are 40 parties currently in the process of registering.”

He further explained that “the number of political alliances between parties has reached 64, the same alliances that participated in the previous elections, and no new alliances have been registered at this time.”

Mahmoud confirmed that no political party has been excluded currently for not meeting the conditions or for violating the conditions.
