Baghdad: The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has issued a directive to remove all electoral campaign materials positioned near polling centers. This move comes as part of the preparations for the electoral silence period, which will commence on Saturday morning.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the directive was announced following a significant meeting chaired by Judge Amer Musa Al-Husseini, the Head of the Electoral Administration. The meeting, which was conducted via videoconference, included directors from provincial electoral offices, the Deputy Head of the Electoral Administration for Technical Affairs, Muhannad Fadel Abbas, and several department heads from the National Office. The focus of the meeting was to review the final preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The statement from the commission highlighted discussions on the latest technical and logistical updates, procedures for both the special and general voting days, and the mechanisms for distributing sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials. Judge Al-Husseini stressed the necessity of fulfilling all polling center requirements, such as equipping voting stations and collaborating with the Electoral Security Committee to ensure the removal of campaign materials near polling centers. These steps are crucial to facilitating the success of the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
