Imam of Friday Prayers in Najaf Advocates for Arab Summit and Upcoming Elections

Najaf: Imam and Friday preacher in Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qabanji, stated, “The Arab summit held in Baghdad is a step in the right direction, regardless of how much it achieves in terms of its objectives.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in his Friday sermon in Najaf, al-Qabanji emphasized, “The government has exerted all security and political efforts to ensure its success.” He explained that the summit succeeded politically, with Iraq being considered a hub for unifying the Arab world.

Regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections, al-Qabanji remarked, “The elections are an expression of the will of the people. In light of the current circumstances, what is the best path to reform?” He expressed that reform cannot be achieved through boycott, but rather through action, attendance, and electing the most qualified. He added that boycotting means that Iraq loses while others advance.
