In the presence of donors from UNICEF and the German government.. Inauguration of the Najaf and Al-Barakiyah water purification plant

Najaf A project to extend the intake structure of the two water treatment plants south of Najaf and Al-Brakiya was inaugurated in Najaf, in the presence of the Governor of Najaf, Majid Al-Waeli, the Director of the German Development Bank in Iraq (KFW) Anna Christine Janke, the representative of UNICEF in Iraq Shima San Gupta, and the Chargé d’Affairs German Philip Holzwil.

During the inauguration, the Governor said that “the project to extend the intake structure of the two water purification plants south of Najaf and Al-Barakiyah station was accomplished with a grant from the German government and UNICEF, with a capacity of 6000 cubic meters per hour. It aims to lengthen the intake platform and increase the amount of water that has been reduced due to water scarcity and low river levels.

For his part, the German diplomat said that his country’s government supports Iraq in general and Najaf Governorate in particular, and is interested in delivering drinking water to more than 250,000 citizens through this project.
