India Responds to Merchant Ship Attack Off Oman: 10 Rescued, One Missing

India: The Indian Embassy in Muscat announced that it is closely monitoring the incident involving the vessel "GFS Galaxy," confirming its ongoing coordination with Omani authorities and relevant parties to follow up on the situation of the crew members.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the embassy explained in a statement: "So far, 10 Indian crew members have been rescued, while one Indian national remains missing." The embassy is in continuous contact with Omani authorities, the ship's management, and relevant parties, and affirmed its commitment to providing all possible support and assistance to the affected crew members. The Ministry of External Affairs condemned the attack targeting the container ship "GFS Galaxy" off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman, confirming that the incident resulted in the disappearance of one Indian national who was among the crew members.

The ministry explained: "The ship was carrying 11 Indian nationals, 10 of whom were rescued, while one Indian national remains missing. The Indian Embassy in Muscat continues to coordinate with Omani authorities and relevant parties to follow up on search operations and provide the necessary support."

New Delhi reiterated its call for an immediate de-escalation, stressing the importance of protecting commercial shipping and ensuring the safety of seafarers in international waterways.
